OBSERVING

CA$150.00

2022, silkscreen print, edition of 100, hand-pulled by the artist, 20” x 24”

I was present during a scientific expedition 200 kilometers off the west coast of Vancouver Island. During that expedition we were deploying some scientific instruments, when we observed a salmon shark, lunging at a log. This shark had many parasites on its body, and it was our observation that this shark was expending energy to try to dislodge these parasites so that it could safely continue its migration across the pacific. This work includes the image of a witness in a canoe, while the salmon shark is seen making its run at the drifting log, it is covered in parasites, represented by the faces on its body.
